Ahmadinejad: "Iran too 'mighty' to attack"

Category:

During an annual army parade, President  Mahmoud Ahmadinejad proclaimed that Iran's army is so powerful today that no country would dare to attack it.

""Iran's army is so mighty today that no enemy can have a foul thought of
invading Iran's territory," the Iranian leader said, according to state
media."

The event was held near themausolem of the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who ushered the Islamic Revolution into Iran more than 30 years ago. Iran displayed several models of meium and long range missles during the event.

After no receiving an invitation to the nuclear summit hoste in Washington last week, the Iranian president chose to amp up his retoric toward the West at Tehran's own nuclear conference. Ahmadinejad slammed western powers for what he called hyprocirical and dangerous policies that actually encourage nulcear proliferation rather than advise peace. He also said the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency were ineffective because they were dominated by a few nations.

"The Security Council has openly turned into a tool for the implementation of the policies of a few bullying nations," Ahmadinejad said. "This group should act in a way where all independent countries and governments could have a say and a role in running the affairs of the group," he said.

Iran is the constant target of U.N. sanctions for it's nuclear ambitions. Iran says its nuclear program is intended for civilian purposes.

I'm no radical or extremists or whatever the government may try and paint a free-thinker but I've always thought Ahmadinejad made some very valid points. I watched an interview with him on a russian station a while back where he stated that the most dangerous weapon in the world isn't nuclear weapons, but the power of the U.S. media. He went on to stress how easily the American mind can be swayed by what's put on television. He also brought up a good point about his interviews, stating that he hates interviewing in America because all news stations, reporters, etc. all ask him the same questions using the same rhetoric, coming from the same point of view.
