Seau, 43 was found by his girlfriend in their home with a single gunshot
wound to the chest, police are calling it a suicide; but they will not know
until a further investigation.
Seau,
who played in the NFL for parts of 20 seasons, is the eighth member of San
Diego's Super Bowl team who has died, all before the age of 45. Lew Bush, Shawn
Lee, David Griggs, Rodney Culver, Doug Miller, Curtis Whitley and Chris Mims
are the others. Causes of death ranged from heart attacks to a plane crash to a
lightning strike.

Seau
spent 13 years as the Chargers linebacker and lead them to their only Super Bowl
appearance in 1994. After spending most of his career with the Chargers
and having one of his best career games with them against the Steelers In a AFC
championship game, where he had 16 tackles and played with a pinched nerve and
still lead his team to the playoffs, beating the Steelers and then coming up
short to the 49ers In the Super Bowl. Following that season Seau was
traded to the Miami Dolphins, Seau continued to be a great player and vocal
leader to young players throughout his years In Miami. Shortly after Seau
retired in 2006 and then came back playing with The New England Patriots. Seau and the
Patriots went to the Super Bowl that year and lost to the Giants.

Seau's
death was shocking and very heartbreaking to many players around the league, most importantly the Seau family. They lost a great player and role
model to and for young players in the league.
